Working With Nerves Before Your Boudoir Session

The idea of having a boudoir photoshoot can be simultaneously exciting and nerve-wracking. The prospect of capturing your sensuality and beauty in intimate settings is exhilarating, but it’s only natural to feel some butterflies in your stomach as the session approaches. Rest assured, you’re not alone in this feeling, and there are effective ways to combat those pre-boudoir jitters. Let’s explore some helpful strategies to help you feel more confident and relaxed before stepping in front of the camera.

  1. Preparation is Key:

The foundation of reducing nerves before your boudoir session is preparation. I love to start by having a zoom consultation after your initial inquiry to go over all the details on planning, session day, investment, and answer any questions you may have.  This will help you become familiar with me and what to expect during the shoot.

Another aspect of preparation is taking care of your body. Pamper yourself with a spa day or beauty treatments in the days leading up to the photoshoot. When you feel your best physically, it can significantly boost your self-confidence. Most importantly, DRINK WATER! Lots of water!!

2. Wardrobe Selection:

Choosing the right wardrobe for your boudoir session is crucial. Select outfits that make you feel sexy and confident. Don’t be afraid to seek advice from me on what types of clothing work best for the setting and your body type.

Additionally, make sure that your outfits are well-fitted and comfortable. When you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, you’ll be more at ease during the shoot.

I have a fully stocked client wardrobe with sizes S-5X that you can choose from as well!

3. Poses and Expressions:

Don’t worry if you don’t feel like you know how to pose on your own! My job is to guide you through all posing AND facial expressions. This even includes breathing! I have you covered all the way through your session!

Something you can do beforehand is practice expressions and poses in front of a mirror. This can help you feel more confident and relaxed during the shoot. I know it feels strange, but pull up my website or Instagram and go through the images to find things you love, and practice those! They don’t have to be perfect, but it will give you an idea of how the poses will feel and how you can stretch before you come into the studio!

4. Focus on the Experience:

Shift your focus away from worrying about the final images and concentrate on the experience itself. Remind yourself that this photoshoot is a celebration of your unique beauty and sensuality. The photos are just a byproduct of that celebration. Embrace the moment and try to enjoy every minute of it.

5. Trust Your Photographer:

One of the most critical aspects of reducing pre-boudoir session nerves is trusting your photographer. My job is to make you feel comfortable and bring out the best in you. Trusting in my expertise and guidance throughout the process will give you the best experience possible!

Fighting nerves before your boudoir session is a common experience, but it’s entirely conquerable with the right strategies. Remember that this photoshoot is about celebrating your beauty and sensuality, and it’s an opportunity to gain a newfound sense of confidence. With proper preparation, wardrobe selection, communication, and relaxation techniques, you can embrace the experience and create stunning, empowering images that you’ll cherish for years to come. So, step into the boudoir session with confidence and let your inner beauty shine!
